Captain James T. Kirk, played by William Shatner, was born and raised in Riverside, Iowa in the year 2233.  While at the Starfleet Academy, Kirk became the first student to defeat the Kobayashi Maru test, also known as the “no-win scenario”.

He was then sent for advanced training aboard the USS Republic, then promoted to lieutenant junior grade and returned to Starfleet Academy as a student instructor.  After graduating in the top five percent, he was promoted to lieutenant and served aboard the USS Farragut.

Kirk soon became Starfleet’s youngest captain and received command of the USS Enterprise for a five-year mission.  Which three of the five years of Captain Kirk’s mission were depicted in the original  Star Trek series.

The original USS Enterprise NCC-1701 made it through to the movie “Star Trek III: The Search for Spock”, which was then destroyed by Captain Kirk as a tactical move (reappearing in the 2009 Star Trek movie).  It was replaced by the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-A.  Captain Kirk, however, attempted to retire in “Star Trek VII: Generations”.

“Star Trek: First Contact” was the first movie that didn’t include any of the Original Series cast.  Instead, this cast consisted of the characters from the television series, “Star Trek: The Next Generation”.  Captain Jean-Luc Picard, played by Patrick Stewart, commands the USS Enterprise-E through a mission to protect Earth from a Borg attack.

“Star Trek: Nemesis” was the fourth and final movie “The Next Generation” cast appeared in.  The Enterprise is ordered to conduct a diplomatic mission to Romulus.  The Romulan government had undergone a military coup and was under the control of a mysterious Reman named Shinzon.  The crew then learns that Shinzon is a clone of Captain Picard.

“The Future Begins”  The eleventh movie of Star Trek takes us back to where it all started.

Spock, being discriminated against for being half human as a youth when he lived on planet Vulcan, declines to join the Vulcan Science Academy.  Instead, he joins Starfleet.

On earth, Kirk is young and intelligent, but reckless and has a knack for getting into bar fights.  Captain Christopher Pike challenges him join Starfleet and mimmick his father’s heroism, which had sacrificed his life for his ship in the beginning of the movie.
